A Dynamic Curriculum With a Holistic Approach

UNION SCHOOL CURRICULUM

Our curriculum at Union School has been designed to optimize learning using a holistic approach that allows students to achieve their individual goals and acquire 21st-century skills. Our dynamic curriculum is evaluated and revised following a 5-year review cycle. Through a collective effort, the educators at Union School have designed an American-based International Curriculum using the following:

  • Common Core Standards (Incorporating College & Career Readiness Standards and Mathematical Practices)
  • Virginia State Standards
  • Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)
  • New York State Standards
  • American Educators Reaches Out (AERO) Standards
  • International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards
  • Long Beach California Unified School District Technology Standards
  • P21’s Framework for 21st Century Learning
  • Advanced Placement (AP) Standards from the College Board
  • Haitian Studies Target Proficiencies developed by the Union School Staff
  • Second Step Social-Emotional Learning Program

Instructors at Union School facilitate instruction that fosters the development of critical and creative thinking, collaboration, civic-mindedness, and personal integrity in our students. Each student’s needs and abilities are considered as teachers use evidence-based, differentiated approaches through subject-specific and interdisciplinary activities. As a result, Union School students excel in their areas of strength and develop their areas of weakness.
