Teacher Qualifications

Union School is committed to employing highly qualified educators who support the delivery of a rigorous American curriculum and uphold the school’s mission and values.

Instructional staff at Union School are expected to:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in their teaching field or a closely related discipline
  • Demonstrate strong pedagogical knowledge and instructional competencies
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and collaborative learning, including Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement, student success, and the mission of Union School
  • Demonstrate proficiency in English, the language of instruction at Union School
  • Familiarity with technology-supported learning
  • At least two years of teaching experience

Applicants whose academic credentials were obtained outside the United States must provide officially translated academic documents evaluated by a recognized credential evaluation service.

Union School recognizes American Evaluation and Translation Services, Inc. (AETS) for credential evaluations.

Teacher English Language Proficiency

Union School delivers its academic program through an English-language American curriculum. To ensure high-quality instruction, effective communication, and professional collaboration, instructional staff who completed their education outside the United States and do not hold a U.S. diploma may be required to demonstrate a high level of English proficiency. 

Teachers must be able to:

  • Deliver instruction clearly and effectively in English
  • Communicate professionally with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Participate fully in professional collaboration and school activities
  • Maintain accurate academic records and written communication

Applicants whose first language is not English or who were educated outside the United States may be required to demonstrate English proficiency through one of the following internationally recognized assessments:

  • Duolingo English Test
  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System)

Union School reserves the right to request English language proficiency testing as part of the recruitment and hiring process.

Recruitment Process
