Child Safety and Safeguarding

Child Safety and Safeguarding

Union School is deeply committed to the safety, protection, and well-being of every student. The Board of Trustees expects all staff, faculty, and volunteers to embrace this commitment by recognizing that each adult connected with our school plays a vital role in preventing harm and promoting welfare.

Our Approach

  • Shared Responsibility
Every staff member and volunteer is entrusted with the responsibility to protect children. We foster a culture of vigilance and open communication across our entire school community.
  • “It Could Happen Here” Mindset
Acknowledging that risks can arise anywhere, we encourage all staff to maintain awareness, never assume “someone else will act,” and always consider the possibility of harm—even in familiar settings.
  • Open Culture & Dialogue
We promote an environment in which concerns can be raised safely, and discussions on welfare matters are welcomed. Silence must never be an option.
  • Child-First Action
When there’s concern about a child’s welfare, the priority is clear: act in the best interest of the child. Staff should move promptly, responsibly, and compassionately.
