Achieve big things with our Language Programs

USH Language Programs

The Union School English Language Program helps people whose first language is not English acquire proficiency in English in the areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening. Our program helps the high school or university student who plans to study in the United States acquire the competency needed for the TOEFL and SAT exams.  Our program is also designed to help the professional who needs to learn or improve his/her English language skills in order to qualify for employment, receives a promotion, or communicates more fluently with English-speaking colleagues.

We strive to provide exceptional English language classes that are student-centered, interactive and effective. Our classes are taught by experienced native and non-native English speakers.

In addition to regular classes, our comprehensive program includes Friday classes reserved for tutoring or conversation as well as our Saturday Language Lab designed to improve listening skills.

Other Languages

Our experience offering English Classes for more than 20 years has allowed us to take that expertise and apply it to additional language classes. We strive to provide the same exceptional quality of service in all of our classes and hold all of our teachers to the same standards. In addition to English classes, Union School offers French, Kreyol, Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish classes for adults.

Evaluations and Feedback

Students have multiple opportunities to provide feedback once they are enrolled in our classes. The feedback is both oral and written and we take it seriously. Student feedback is used to continuously improve our Language Program. Our most recent initiatives have been in direct response to student feedback. This includes our Friday Conversation Club, Friday tutoring sessions, and our Language Listening Lab. Our goal is for you to speak English to the best of your ability. With this in mind, we are always doing research, looking into the most current best practices and providing additional training to our teachers.

Refund Policy

Once a student has begun attending classes, any payment made is non-refundable. If a student has not begun attending classes, a refund can be requested. The refund will be provided via check and usually requires 7-10 business days. The refund will include all fees minus the registration fee and ID badge. In certain circumstances, students may request and be granted a deferment for the next session. This is evaluated and provided on a case-by- case basis.

If a student pays for multiple sessions in advance and is unable to continue after one session, the funds will be available for refund for up to three-months. If a refund request is not made within a three-month period, no refund will be granted.

Multiple sessions paid in advance must be used consecutively.

Make-Up Exams

Dates for mid-term and final exams are on the course calendar. All students receive a copy of the course calendar for the first week of classes. If you miss an exam and need to schedule a make-up exam, there is a fee of $50. Payment should be made at the Business Office. When you miss an exam, an instructor is required to put in additional hours in order to administer the exam. The make-up fee goes to cover the costs of the additional hours the instructor is required to work.

If a student pays for multiple sessions in advance and is unable to continue after one session, the funds will be available for refund for up to three-months. If a refund request is not made within a three-month period, no refund will be granted.

Multiple sessions paid in advance must be used consecutively.
